What is Coolsculpting?

CoolSculpting is the world’s leading procedure for non-surgical fat reduction. Why? Because it works.

When CoolSculpting was introduced in 2010, it seemed almost too good to be true – which is always a cause for skepticism. Today, with nearly 3 million treatments and continual growth in popularity, CoolSculpting has become so well known, most patients return to our office to treat a different area of their body, and our new patients know someone personally who is happy with the results of their CoolSculpting experience.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting destroys fat cells through a process called cryolipolysis; freezing the fat cells, causing them to die. A single treatment destroys an average of 20% of the fat cells in the area. CoolSculpting can be used on the flanks (love handles), abdomen, male breast area, thighs and arms.

More is More: DualSculpting with the Stacking Technique

Because most patients desire greater reduction, we created treatment plans to include back-to-back applications (also called the “stacking” technique) on the same area in a single visit. The results of this treatment prove to be 2-3 times more effective, eliminating up to 60% of the fat in the treated area.

We have two CoolSculpting units to treat both sides of the body at the same time (wherever applicable); i.e love handles, arms, outer thighs, etc. DualSculpting also cuts down treatment time 50%, making treatment much more convenient for our patients.

“My personal experience has proven that performing two treatment cycles to an area (this is called stacking) during a single visit/appointment of CoolSculpting, versus waiting months between treatments, enhances results.  When the second cycle immediately follows the first, the reduction of fat is 2 – 3 times greater.  In my opinion, stacking achieves dramatic results and much greater patient satisfaction. Stacking is safe and truly effective. The results speak for themselves.  If you ever have any question, I’m happy to see you in my clinic and show you my results.” –Jennifer Harrington, MD

Harrington + Associates in Plymouth is the only office in Minnesota offering dual CoolSculpting® for faster, more flexible treatments.

What should I expect during my CoolSculpting treatment?

The treatment involves placing an applicator with vacuum suction onto the desired area. The applicator forms a snug seal around the tissue being treated. The cold temperature is noticeable for a few minutes, but not uncomfortable.

Each treatment cycle takes 1 hr. The treated area is massaged briefly as it rapidly thaws. With a stacking technique, the applicator is strategically replaced over the same area and another cycle takes place. The area is massaged following the second cycle, as well. Patients are free to leave the office immediately following treatment. The area may feel slightly numb. This sensation will be noticeable up to several weeks, but has not been reported bothersome from most patients.

Treatment does not require downtime, but may cause minor side effects like temporary redness, bruising, tingling or numbness.

What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting safely treats most areas of the body:

  • flanks (love handles)
  • upper and lower abdomen
  • back/bra fat
  • male breast area
  • inner, outer, and back of thighs

Slim Down with CoolSculpting

Dr. Harrington can personally vouch for the procedure, having enjoyed the incredible results herself. CoolSculpting can produce signs of visible results as early as three weeks after treatment, however optimal results show between 3-6 months as the body continues eliminating the destroyed cells from your body. Your results will last as long as you maintain your current diet and normal weight.

CoolSculpting Results

CoolSculpting usually produces visible results in as little as three weeks after the first appointment. The body will continue flushing out the frozen fat cells for up to four to six months after treatment. Results will last as long as the patient maintains his or her normal weight.
